Brown Oak Burr Expanding Circular Dining Table

This table won best use of British Timber at the Celebration of Craftsmanship and Design at Cheltenham in August 2017.  You can read more about the award here.

The table is the medium size in George's range, expanding from 1.5m to 1.9m, and sits up to 10 people.  The top has been veneered in brown oak burr, which came from a really special 850 year old oak tree that died on an English Estate.  The base is made from solid brown oak, with the design inspired by the tattered crown of the ancient tree.  The internal surfaces of the base are textured, with a band of burr running around the edge of the table undercarriage.
